Pipe Collars

Got some central heating pipes that go in through pale colour tiles. One is a 28mm pipe and the others are 15mm. Question is if I clean up the pipes will they stay bright enough for me to use a brass effect collar or will they oxidise again over time? The 28mm pipe is from the back of a stove. 15mm pipes are on a ladder…
