Roof and scaffolding

Hi all

Hope this is the correct board. I have been told that my roof needs to be replaced (that it is old felt). Engineer report was perfect but small stain on one of the children's roof...roofer I have is quoting approx 30k for job...he is saying job is 2 weeks and will need scaffolding and this will cost 6k up to 12k....for some reason I feel I am been robbed...is this the normal price to rent scaffolding?

get three quotes, get scaffolding firm to price separately, scaffolding is expensive but that does sound a lot but bear in mind i have no idea if you live in a 3 bed bungalow or a castle

Hi, if it’s a standard type house that seems somewhat excessive.one of my friends is a roofing contractor and never uses scaffolding on an average type two storey house

Unlikely to be able to re-roof a house safely without the use of scaffolding.

your friend is an idiot if he is re roofing a house without scaffolding . there is no way he could be insured to work like that

Thanks for the replies house does not need new roof. Scaffolding way overpriced can rent it for approx 2k. Need Valleys done some slates and some internal work but approx 20k less than was quoted!

Roofer friend certainly not a cowboy. He is not a slater/tiler. Those certainly need scaffolding. Does your flat roof one storey extension need scaffolding.
