Aer Lingus refusing to use DOB and passport data from 'Travel Companions' when checking in

I have several family members and friends stored in 'Travel Companions' in my login on the Aer Lingus website. Each individual's date of birth and passport data is recorded. The benefit of this system is (was?) that I could tick them off when booking a flight for a group of us so all of the data was fed into the Advance Passenger Information (API) system if we were going to a country which required it. Which made checking in a breeze. Another major benefit is that it avoids the risk of misspelling a name when booking for multiple people.

I booked a flight for four of us a while back and ticked their names off 'My Travel Companions'. All of their data is in 'Travel Companions' under my login. Nobody's passport has expired, all of the data is still valid. But when I try to check-in just now, Aer Lingus is insisting that I enter all of the DOB and passport data for each passenger, even thought it's all there on their website under my login.

I messaged them on Twitter and their answer is pretty bizarre.... 'For security purposes, passport information is not stored on our system. All passengers must add passport information for each flight. You can do this online or at the airport'. I call that response 'bizarre' because all of the data is stored on their system, I can see it under my login in 'Travel Companions'.
