Traumatic Brain Injury

    Hi all

    I haven't posted in a good while.

Anyways I suffered a TBI last year and spent 3 Months in Connolly hospital (3 weeks in ICU) and then 3 Months in the National Rehabilitation Hospital.

I lost all feeling on the right hand side and I was in a wheelchair.

Thankfully I have battled through this and I'm walking, independent e.t.c.

I also was diagnosed with traumatic 4th nerve palsy.

While I have no pain it is very frustrating. I'm waiting on a follow up about this..

I am also doing physio both at home and with a physiotherapist.

Does anyone have any advice on things I can do or people I should see as I'm sure I have left out something.

I have been to ABI Ireland and also Headway so any tips e.t.c would be appreciated .

I was on disability allowance at the time so I have to find something soon but I'm quite limited.

    Thanks in Advance

I'm sorry that I've no good advice to give - but I couldn't read your post without coming on just to say I wish you all the best in your recovery. It sounds like you've come a long way already and I hope things continue to get better for you.

Ask the physio about how they would recommend you should compliment your work with them with working independently yourself ….

It ‘might’ be that they’d recommend stuff like a buying a treadmill, bosu ball, resistance bands, cross trainer, suspension trainer…..whatever would safely suit your ability and help but of course they can advise…

a word to the wise, there is a chronic shortage of state physios… they are seeking to drop patients like there is no tomorrow…. So be careful, don’t set yourself up to be dropped.
