Should I work towards accounting qualification as well as AITI?

Hi, I am interested in getting the AITI tax qualification. I have no exemptions from this. I have been offered a traineeship with a top 10 firm but under the contract, I will only be pursuing AITI qualification. Am I holding myself back by not first pursuing an accountancy qualification? Thank you any advice is appreciated.
