Why has my Google Chrome turned into Yahoo?

In the past few weeks, the Google Chrome browser on my Laptop is only giving me access to Yahoo, which is a grossly inferior browser and is giving me spectacularly bad search results.

Has this happened to other people, and can anything be done about it?

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Do you mean your default search engine has now become yahoo instead of google on chrome?

If that's the case, go to settings, on the left hand side you'll see search engine, then just change the search engine used in the address bar here back to Google

Viking G, I'm afraid that is not working, as my settings are not the same.

I have no idea why this happened, as I never asked for Yahoo and my Chrome was fine until recently.

I will keep fiddling around and see if there is anything I can do. I do not want to re-install as I have a lot of saved passwords.

When I switched on my computer yesterday, I started with Chrome and noticed that Yahoo was hijacking my search engine, and anything I searched went to yahoo. So I wrote to yahoo customer service to ask what was the matter. Waiting for reply from them.

go to browser menu, 3 dots on the top right of screen, click search engine, click google in menu box,

eg google, bing, yahoo select google, click menu ,exit.

click on chrome icon on desktop, or menu, see if it has worked

All you affected, most likely got some crap installed along with some freeware, torrent, other.

It is not just that your search engine changed once inadvertently, it will change back again until you clean up that crap that you got (ask toolbar, similar) no matter how many times you change your settings to your preference. Its called hijacking for that reason.
