Should those who carry their bag bring a divot bag around with them?

Just on foot of a comment at our AGM, I'm just wondering what people's opinions are here. Specifically the comment was that those who carry their bags aren't exempt from carrying around a divot bag. But to be honest, I think that we are. I've done it a few times and it's incredibly annoying. If you try to carry it like a shopping bag it'll hurt your back over the course of the round. And attaching it to your golf bag doesn't work either. It swinging around on your bag is incredibly annoying and shifts the weight around on the bag. So you can never adjust to make it comfortable to carry. In which case it's just not at all practical to do it.

With a trolley I can't understand someone not bringing one. I've done it, it's no inconvenience.

But I suspect if I didn't carry my bag, I wouldn't have much time for someone as precious about their back as me. I suspect my attitude would be that if you can't carry a divot bag along with your bag you should bring a trolley, because I don't want to be playing out of your unrepaired divots! But I carry and like doing so. So I'll continue to do so and repair my divots with other people's divot bags if I can't just replace it. On those days where none of us bring a divot bag out, if I can't replace the divot I won't lose sleep over it.

I have an old 750ml drinks bottle that I fill with divot mix. Probably takes more than a sand bag if totally filled. Shouldn't get a free pass just because I carry sometimes.

I’m not great with the divot bag but I think I make up for it repairing pitchmarks. Our club is terrible for pitchmarks at the minute so I could easily do 10 on a single green.

Really good idea. Even for someone using a trolley it sounds easier to use

Definitely easier, just unscrew and tap it into the divot. I hate grabbing a handful of wet sand from a bag ending up with sand in your pockets.

Never needed a divot bag. My divots are always clean fillets that go back in. Nothing more satisfying than picking up a rasher.

Except Mr Crow comes along and ruins your neat work. Sand over a replaced divot is quickest and effective.

Agreed, this is what I do. Makes it alot easier and just keep it in the water bottle "pocket"
