Rim Solutions or Wheel Wizards, both in Dublin are highly rated.

I was looking into this myself recently and prices were coming in around €500 which I suppose isn't crazy money. However then I started seeing new alloys were about €600 so that makes more sense to me.

You cannot really compare a set of €600 aftermarket alloy wheels to getting original manufacturer's alloy wheels refurbished unless the original alloy wheels were nothing special to start with. The quality of aftermarket alloy wheels are usually not as good as original alloy wheels either.

    Good to know,

I figured it was a bit cheap but I'm thinking I'd still have a new set of alloys that'd look good for a couple of years.I could hold onto the old ones too when selling in the car on.

I agree but these are 351m msport wheels wider rears etc. Car is mint just the wheels letting her down at this stage. Oem imo will always be stronger unless your going to be buying rays, work, enkei etc

    Yes fair enough.

I think a lot of people might be looking into things like this over the next while. The way the car market is now I've decided to keep my car for the foreseeable (it helps if you have a nice car that you love!) Will do something with the alloys,I have already got two small dents taken out and was even looking into wrapping it.

As I said I think there might be a rise in people looking to do stuff like this.

Exactly the value of the car has risen but so has every other car. Always fun trying to keep a yoke fresh i think.

Dropped wheels into wheel wizards on Thursday. Shall post a pic when I get them back if anyone should stumble upon this in the future

How long do they think it'll take and did they give you a set of alloys to use in mean time?

Do they remove the tyres or did you have to do that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭Gorgeousgeorge

No they took wheels tyres the whole lot and gave me a set of bmw wheels to drive around on. They re fit and balance tyres after refurb which is inc in price

1 week and yep gave me a set of bmw wheels to tip about on

Not to hijack the thread but is there anyone recommended in the south of the country who can refurb diamond cut wheels?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭Gorgeousgeorge

Wheel doctor was in tipperary but that was back in the day. Is a crowd that do mobile diamond cutting. hitech wheels but id say that would be pricey

Before and after dont mind the centre caps waiting on new bmw ones

Aha! got me! although even turning my laptop on its side, it looks like a scuff. So we don't need T-Cut, I need a new laptop 😀.

How long did they have your alloys for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 gorgeousgeorge2

Def needs to cut in a few spots alright but noting that bad touch wood.

1 week is all but I was in no rush im sure the turn around could be quicker if requested

Oh dear George, I'm very sorry. In no way was I trying to imply anything negative about your car, especially as you obviously take very good care of it. Unfortunately, my wisecracks have a habit of being neither 'wise' nor 'craic'. I'm now officially mortified.
