Car reg plate not showing up

Hi, I got the reg from the dealer on Friday for a brand new car. However no sites seems to be picking up the reg plate yet.

I tried insurance sites, cartell and nct site and nothing. Is there a wait time or something more I need to do for the reg to show up?

Also out of curiosity. Does the reg plate given by a dealer is already registered to some system that all insurance sites uses?

Perfectly normal. It'll start to appear a few days after you tax it.

Thanks. Never bought a brand new car. So If I haven't tax it that means it won't show up?

I was looking at insurance and I thought you would need a reg plate that comes up on their system in order to take out a policy?

Picking up the car on Wednesday.

For insurance, you'll need to ring them to change over to the new car.

I wish I have that option. I have to take out a new policy for the new car since I'm only a named driver in the current policy.

You can take out a new policy over the phone, not everything can only be done over the internet in 2022.

Hint: find a matching car reg that does work and use the online systems first to figure out the cheapest.

I did ring up 123 yestersay and they were giving me a quote. But need to confirm some details. Forgot to ask if it's fine that they can process my transaction if the reg hasn't showed up in their system yet.
