Boiling Water Taps

    Hi all

We have an open plan kitchen - living room and the whole place has to come to a halt every time we boil the kettle. I am so tired of it I am actually seriously considering forking out for a boiling water tap (recent Quooker ads caught my eye).

The prices are eye-watering. I am just wondering what people's experience of them are - I am just thinking of getting the basic package to be honest, I don't need sparkling water on tap.

    • are they reliable
    • is maintenance expensive, can you change the filter yourself etc (saw an article suggesting that Quooker filters were up to £150 to change??!!!!)
    • how long should i expect it to last
    • Is the fact we have a combi boiler relevant? I saw someone say in a review for example, that hot water from a combi boiler is already filtered. How would I check it that is the case for mine?
    • Our water pressure is under 2 bars - will these taps still work effectively?
    • Anything else I should be thinking about? I'd hate to install it and find I hadn't spec'd it out properly.

So far I like the look of the Franke one as the cansiter seems to go under the cupboard instead of in the cupboard. Our under sink cupboard is only 50cm so space is a considertion.

    Thank you!
