    Hi

I want to book a surprise weekend away for my partners big birthday coming up this year. I want to book business class flights. Where can I fly from dublin in under 5 hours in business class?

    Thank you

"most" european flights in business are the same seating configuration as cattle class. Maybe they'll block the middle seat and serve you nicer snacks. At least that's what Star alliance airlines do. Maybe someone else has experience on other airlines that do it better. Maybe Turkish airlines? Or a flight to Dubai/etc if that's within your 5 hour limit.

This seems a little backwards to me if I'm honest.

Even with the most premium seats, an airplane isn't a great getaway. Why not book the destination that's best, and find the best flights for that?

In my experience, most European flights that are "business class" are actually economy, you MIGHT have better leg room, and nobody in the middle seat but you won't find a Virgin Atlantic style upper class flat bed or anything near that to the best of my knowledge. There will be no bar or a la carte dining. You may get lounge access and fast track security but, you can book those with any flight anyway so don't book your destination for those things alone.

Business class is wasted in Europe, an empty middle seat isn't a luxury. I've done some and Swiss was the best in terms of food and service but it's not really the treat you think it would be.

New York/Dubai wouldn't be much further and there would be a definite difference in the experience.

It depends on whether you want some kind of fancy food and drink or just the big seat. Aer Lingus operate long haul planes in the mornings on some main European routes and busy holiday routes like Faro and Malaga and you'll get a business class seat and lounge access (if offered at that airport) if you book the right fare (but no fancy food or drink onboard). Look for A330 or A321neo in the flight details, and book the highest available fare option. It's not guaranteed: they might change the plane type after you book so there's always a chance that you might end up in ordinary seat.

    Hi

    Thanks everyone

We have done Dubai and New York a few times including business class and I know shorter distances wont compare

I want some luxury though so middle seat empty isn't what I am thinking

Turkish airlines looks like it might be what I'm looking for

It's the very short time length of the trip which is my reason for wanting a shorter flight time

We like to travel everywhere so any destination with any bit of history or just an interesting city would work for us

    Thanks to everyone who answered
