Travel Within EU - Passport Validity

    Hi.

I am looking to book flights during the summer - Ireland to Portugal, then Portugal to Spain and finally Spain back to Ireland.

One of the airlines that I want to book a flight with requires you to provide passport details at the time of booking the flight (rather than when checking in).

My 5 year old daughters passport expires in August (we will be flying in June). Anyone know if there is a requirement for a passport to be valid X months after travelling within the EU? I seem to remember this being the case for adults anyway when travelling to the US for example. But wondering if this applies to minors within the EU?

Renewing the passport could take a while by which time the flights will no doubt have hiked in price.

    TIA

For EU citizens the passport just has to be valid on the date of travel.

Theres different rules for non EU citizens but I presume that doesnt apply to you, just dont be reading UK or USA websites and thinking that their rules apply to EU citizens

Munchkin is correct, having said that online passport renewal is very quick now, a matter of a few days, you’ll have get a form signed by Gardai via an email link from passport office connected to your application you print & post off, they supply pre paid envelope you print off after the online process as under 18 but most of the process is online, only did it last week
