Gazco Riva II Natural Gas Fireplace: what is wrong with you?

    Hey lads,

I am sharing here my odyssey with my fireplace.

The model is the 134-130 Gazco Riva II natural gas fireplace: https://bit.ly/3nKOKt3

Over the last 6 months, it became more and more difficult to turn it on, it required more and more attempts, until it stopped completely.

When you try to turn it on, the pilot flame comes on, it tries to ignite, but nothing happens, then it goes back off.

The stove was looked after by an RGI company for the yearly checks and maintenance, initially, he replaced the oxy pilot (https://bit.ly/3GHny5X) to address the issue, but nothing changed.

The engineer that worked on the appliance pointed the finger to the magnet that actually opens the flow of gas, but neither he nor his boss were able to / wanted to tell me exactly what is wrong with the device, so I was just presented with 3 options:

    1) changing the gas valve: EUR 500

    2) gas valve + control unit: EUR 900

    3) replace entire fireplace engine: EUR 1600

    Some considerations:

The magnet part alone that controls the gas flow costs 40 EUR (https://bit.ly/3nLdjGa) and can be purchased online, if THAT is the culprit, it would be crazy to shell out hundreds of euros to replace stuff I do not need to.

I was already charged 400 EUR for the two initial attempts to repair the stove, and the replacement Oxy Pilot; it is also extremely difficult to find another RGI that wants to work on the appliance, since the one who installed it is out of business, and all the companies I spoke to do not want to touch a device they did not install themselves.

Ideally, I would need a proper diagnosis on the device, to find the problem and just replace what I need, what options do I have?
