Syndicated radio shows have been tried a few times on Irish radio stations but they don't ever last very long on the schedules for whatever reason, 98fm had Ryan Seacrest, Both Nova & Today FM had Alice Cooper, 2fm had Boy George. Iirc Radio Ireland/Today FM were considering broadcasting the Howard Stern show at one stage.

Steve Downe's Classics, another syndicated show, was broadcast on Radio Nova for some years before being dropped. I read here on another thread that it is coming back! A syndicated show by Bruce Springsteen is also on Nova. The Story of Pop, presented by Alan Freeman, was broadcast on Lite FM, now called Q102. Phantom FM broadcast Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Show for a while.

2FM takes in syndicated dance shows overnight Saturday/Sunday still - has varied over time but its been Dave Clarke's White Noise for quite a long time now.

2FM goes off in this house the second Mo-K starts with their ridiculous scheduling idea of putting a hiphop show between two dance shows, so I've not heard any of Dave Clarke for years now; often had 2FM on from ~6pm til whenever I went to sleep when it was actually all dance.

Nothing new at all , going back to the Pirates of the 80's

Nova Casey Kasam American top 40 Coast to Coast , "played on great radio stations across the globe including Radio Nova" Casey would say .

Ree Dees top 40 also on a number of super pirates of the 80's

Regarding Phantom playing Bob Dylan's programme. ... that was initiated by one of our shareholders, Principle Management. They put us in direct contact with Dylan's manager, through their U2 connections. I then had to basically write a character reference for the station and send it off for Mr Dylan's personal approval. Once word came back that he was willing to be associated with Phantom, his manager made the arrangements for us to broadcast the programme through a set of CD's that were posted to us in batches, as the series progressed.

Some of the Dylan imposed contractual conditions were that it would not be repeated (each episode only broadcast once), and that it would not be broadcast on our webstream. We had an alternative music CD produced that was played out as a separate feed to the webstream service, while the programme went out on air in Dublin. A set of 'Dylan patch leads' were setup on our audio chain rack to split the webstream from the studio output. When the programme was finished, the patch leads were disconnected from the designated music CD player and connected back to the live studio feed.

When we had permission from Mr Dylan to use the programme, we had to apply for permission from the then BCI to change our submitted programme schedule. That was not an easy task.... although Dylan was the founding father of alternative music, the music he played was what had influenced him and it was quite a range ,..... from the earliest recordings of hilbilly folk, to very random stuff that complimented his thoughts on various personal influence topics. We had to convince the BCI that although some of the material he was going to play was not in itself alternative rock, he would explain the influence it had on him, himself being a founder of the alternative rock genre, in its earliest form. After some consideration, the BCI eventually accepted the personal influence argument, but for a while I thought that while we played Bob Dylan tracks, they might not let us actually play a Bob Dylan presented radio programme.

Some of the music he played also gave us quite a headache with our IMRO reporting, it was impossible to identify publisher and recording details for some of the most obscure stuff that he played and there were a few head scratching moments trying to figure out as much info as we possibly could.

Wow - there was a lot involved in getting that show on the road! Was it a case of "seemed like a good idea at the time" or was all that effort worth it to get that exclusive? I would imagine Bob Dylan fans were delighted anyway.

By the way, just to go back on topic, The Kim Wilde 80s Show is broadcast across Europe, Canada and Australia!

You just go to her companies website and add The Kim Wilde 80's show to the shopping cart.

Once purchased, she just dials in about 30 customized links a week for the station who bought it and job done. The software does the rest.

Does anyone think simulcasting Kim Wilde's 80s show on CH & Nova would be an interesting idea?

Why would that be a good idea? Radio Nova plays (or is supposed to!) rock music while Classic Hits has no music restrictions (other than it suits the age cohort that they are licensed for) and neither does Kim.
