Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    what does everyone think of their owns brand products

    they have a good selection of stuff that i have never had any dealing with.

    what are their screws , silicones, paint, fillers, plumbing, electrical stuff like

    I can only comment on electrical... rubbish i did a job for a guy a few years ago and he bought the stuff screwfix... i am out of the trade now but i usually bought mem stuff... also much easier to work with...

    most of these type of shops sell rubbish electrical and plumbing unless ts the proper brand stuff but then its insane money.

    Well it takes at least twice the time to fit and an electrician is not cheap... my advise buy the good stuff... cheaper long term...

    I have bought 10 USB sockets, replaced all my light switches in my house, my partners house and my daughter's and no issues with the brand I used.

    I've fitted an extractor fan in a bathroom and still working fine.

    I find the Nononsense brand of filler, silicone and expanding foam to be very good and far cheaper than other brand names.

    what are the screws like. i bought a box of silver screws from them last week. they are ok , nothing to write home about.

    the turbo gold and normal gold look better.

    I buy a good bit of stuff from Screwfix and I've had some mixed experiences but mostly positive. Their screws are fine, ok for general use but if I was hanging a door or something critical I think I'd stick with Spax or Reisser. No Nonsense Danish oil and similar finishing products are very good and a fraction of the price of branded stuff. Nuts, bolts, nails etc are all good. I've used some of their plumbing fittings (compression fittings, tap valves/ reviver kits) which seem to be fine. I used a lot of their metal clad sockets and switches in my shed and they are holding up very well nearly 7 years on- no complaints (although they do get some negative reviews online). Their own brand outdoor sockets and lights are something I'd probably steer clear of- you have to pay for good quality on these. Seems to me their own-brand (Kingfisher) stuff is as good as most of the generic/ unbranded stuff you'll find in a builder's providers, just a lot cheaper usually.
