So long story short I've had a stove disconnected from a open system.its now a sealed system jus boiler doing the work.ive a **** tonne of pipes in the hot press and valves that I'm not sure needs to be open or closed.

The gate valve in 1st pic comes out of side of cylinder and goes the grey plastic pipes.not sure if that valve needs to be open or closed

Edit the valve connects to the side of the white square thingy then into the grey pipe work

The valve in the first pic looks like the balancing valve to the hot water, this needs to be left open. if it's fully open and some rads stop heating the you could throttle it back. It's there to stop the hot water from the heating system rushing thru the coil and bypassing the radiator circuit

Any idea why my boiler is reading 1.4 bar when it's switched off and when I switch it on the pressure drops down to 1bar and stays there..its a ariston eco boiler and it's driving me mad..when I turn it on I'm getting the full 4 bar flames in the display but it drops down to 1 bar flame in the display also

I presume the boiler pressure returns to 1.4 bar with the pump off?.

That's the pump head of 0.4bar (4M), the expansion vessel is installed on the pump discharge side, the boiler pressure will then be the E.vessel pressure minus the pump head, if installed (more correctly) on the pump suction then the boiler pressure will be the E.vessel pressure plus the pump head.,

That's all went above my head there lol..I've had issuses with pressure drops in my other posts but I think I fixed that issuse..so as far as I know the pump is built into the boiler so that is set at what ever the manufacturer settings is..I dropped the pressure on my ev as recommended by someone on a previous thread it was set at 2bar so it's down to around 1.3 bar at the min..I not sure if u have to check the pressure when the system is fully cold ?

Yes, with cold system, set boiler pressure to 1.3/1.5bar.

Re above, is the boiler pressure changing by 0.4bar with the pump on /off.

As an aside, and in my humble opinion, your cylinder thermostat is set WAY too high on your cylinder. How water rises when heated, so the cylinder heats from the top down, so your thermostat is likely to shut off the boiler when you have a small fraction of your cylinder heated.

I need to get a plumber out jus to check the pipework that was changed is correct..they rads are heating great at the min.the boiler seems to be running properly but my ensuite rad has completely stopped heating and there's no heat in either of the pipes.the hot water cylinder doesn't seen to be heating and the thermostat looks like it's set at 90 degrees
