Most threads on this here are rather old so I'll start a new one...

    Yes

We're doing one this summer too

Plenty of websites that can provide the service

Friends of ours do and they use HomeExchange (we are on it but have not exchanged yet). It's 175 per year which includes insurance cover etc.

If doing staycations, house swapping is the only way to go. Especially advantageous if you are in a desirable location.

Yes, it was them that suggested it to us. They live outside Dublin and have exchanged on a couple of occasions with people from Spain. We are listed on it, but have not actually paid anything yet. No need to pay unless you are going to exchange, and then it is basically for the insurance cover I think.

friends of mine do it. Instead of swapping their main house. They swap their cottage in Kerry. Works out really well for them.

We have done several exchanges through homelink. We have done the whole west coast of the US over different years. First year we exchanged with a family just outside Seattle. The house was lovely and overlooked Puget Sound. The second exchange was to California to a house mid-way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It was right by the beach with a huge deck. We watched the whales breaching out at sea. Our third exchange was in Oregon. We spent a week in their house in Portland and then two weeks at their beach house. In all cases we swapped cars and everything worked out well. It was a great way to travel and see the country. Looking forward to more post-Covid.

One piece of advice I would give to those thinking about doing a house swap is to start putting together a guide to your home now - how things work, contacts, recommendations for places to visit etc.
