insurance question for wife taking drivers in our car

    as far as i know, the driving test is done in your own car - which is a bit weird on its own, but fair enough.


    anyway, by the time my wife has done the EDT and applies for the drivers test, i assume she has to be insured? i would put her as a second driver on my insurance, would that be enough? she is on her learners permit now, does she already have to be insured at this stage?

    The test doesn't have to be done in your own vehicle. It can be done in any valid car but it is up to the candidate to supply the vehicle. Most driving schools will supply a vehicle for a test

    She would have to be insured if actually driving on public roads. Being a named driver will suffice.
