Another Quick question 👀👀 does anyone know if you can get (LEGALLY) common teal eggs or diver (tufted duck) eggs in Ireland for releasing birds just to try add to the mallard we release?

Anyone I talked to says no. But just on the off chance!!

They will be hard got cos Tufties aren't exactly the gourmets choice when it comes to good eatin and Teal are very shy and tend to need alot of cover to breed, even in low densities

Try Alex from Kilkeel Quail. He keeps a huge amount of waterfowl and definitely has Teal. Sells hatching eggs

Apologies to the OP for going slightly off topic here but has anyone else who does fowling noticed a steady increase in Shoveler duck numbers in recent years??. The reason I ask is cos I have a permission on Turlough land near Hollymount in Mayo for the last 30 years where we've gone from getting one or 2 on the Turloughts during the winter 10 years ago, to now flocks of many dozen throughout this area(and others from what I've seen elsewhere in the West).
