Over 12 Under 16's, Covid Cert Expiration

Hi Folks,

With most of Europe gone to 9 month validity for the Covid cert (Italy 6 months!!) what's going to be the story this cohort? They can't get booster, most of them will not be able to go anywhere July /August onwards. Will rule us out of a family holiday this year looking like, and after missing the last 2 years seems an unfair scenario.

Just wondering if anyone knows is there a way around it?

Both of our kids are in this Age Group and we want to go abroad this Summer if at all possible so I have been keeping an eye on it.

EMA are expecting to consider Boosters for this Age Group soon according to their own Twitter.

Otherwise, I imagine that it will be negative Tests required.

will follow this as I’m in same boat, just 2 kids 13/14 are not vaccinated. I’m led to believe Cyprus & Greece only require pcr tests and not COVID certs.

Any update on this ?

Both our Kids are in this Age Group. Their EU DCCs will expire in early June (270 days since Dose #2) but we can't go on holidays until end June.

We have booked France on the Ferry (roll-over since 2020) for late-June but also keeping our eye on Greece or Italy as alternatives.

I asked EMA during the week, they haven't received an application yet was the reply.

My son going to miss a trip to Italy in February, they are 6 months validity 😢

Ireland could authorise without EMA (unlikely). Germany and Hungary (both EU) are boosting this Age Group without EMA approval.

I'm a teacher, we had this issue with a school tour. Lots of kids just walked into walk in clinics in colleges and the like and got boosted. We had big panic but they all found a way in the end. Some GPs said no, but then a pharmacist did it etc. They just kept knocking on doors! People need to write to their TDs, they can hurry this along in time for summer.

Yup. Every now and then universities have walk-in clinics. Our 15 year olds just walked in and got boosted!

I have to agree that this is very unlikely. Maybe if it was an isolated 15 year old accidentally but several - No.

I've nothing to gain here by lying. Don't get it if you want, it makes no different to my life! We're heading off with our boosted 15 year olds.

It was only a few who fell between the vaccinated-over-6-months thing and weren't yet 16 to get boosted. I've had to check their covid certs and yes, it was officially updated (we were told by a GP that this was impossible, computer system wouldn't allow it, and then it happened).

Look, I don't know what your story is but anyone that does any research into this knows what you are saying is extremely questionable. I have exhausted all avenues in the hope of getting my son into a position where he can go on his trip... And it's simply not possible... The booster is not allowed for U16's, simple as....

Conor Pope has an article in IT this am on Expiry of EU DCC but makes no mention of the particular issue for Age 12-15.

Maybe, it might be worth contacting him to highlight it though ?

France are already boosting 12-15 year olds as well, I'm concerned for our booked and paid for Easter holidays. I found this article by googling - Belgium are putting pressure on the EMA to approve it but looks as if Belgians will be able to opt in to boost their teenagers in the meanwhile- if only they would bring that in here too and let us choose for ourselves. If it's safe for a 16 year old, how is it not safe for a 15 and 10 month year old?!

Sorry, it won't let me post the link to the article as I had to re-register with a different user name due to email problems - it's on the front page of today's Brussels Times, in English: "Advice expected today" - still no decision on booster doses for teenagers.

Our daughter (11) got her first dose last weekend and would be due her 2nd vaccine mid February. However, we're planning to be in Europe for July and August, by which time she'll be 12, so we're thinking of delaying her 2nd dose until the end of February so that she won't need a booster in June. Is anyone doing similar?

Up to 9 months. Italy is 6 months at the moment. I don't know if there are any others also on 6 months.

PCR or antigen will do for most of us. We won't be coerced into getting a booster, shower of cowboys.

By the middle of this year the travel industry and tourism boards in various EU countries will see that numbers are down, and be forced to rethink it or scrap it

I would have considered it if it had been either of our kids.

As it is both of our kids Certs will expire in early June but we can't travel until end of June. Hopefully, they will decide on Boosters for this Age Group 12-15 years soon.
