Radiator not heating up

I have an issue with the Rad in my front double bedroom.

it’s not heating up at all, I’ve tried everything I can think of.

I bled the rad until water started trickling out and opened both sides of rad.

Copper pipe on left side heats up and the other copper pipe on right stays cold but the rad itself doesn’t heat up. I’ve tried twisting both sides on and off and nothing.

Im nearly sure this rad worked last year when I just bought the house but I can’t be certain either.

No issues with any other rads. The house is gas central heating installed 24 years ago. Boiler replaced 6 years ago.

    any ideas?

System could need balancing or radiator could be blocked with sludge.

Temporarily turn off all other radiators upstairs & see if it starts to heat up.

If it has a thermostatic valve, take off the head and gently tap the pin and it should pop up. If a manual valve, make sure that the handle is turning the spindle.

Yeah It’s a manual valve I took the plastic casings off and turned them on manually with a pliers. Still on joy.

    I’ll try this,

If it is blocked with sludge what’s next, YouTube and learn how to unblock? Or will I call someone out?

I'm having the same issue with a cluster of 3 rads. I have 11 rads , all 1990s and all with just manual control valves. I got them working briefly by turning on all the valves fully, bleeding from first to last but as soon as the heating knocked off and on again the 3 rads were back to cold.

I'm wondering would the system balance better with thermostatic valves. If I have to fork out for a plumber to come out to balance the system anyway it might be worth the upgrade.
