Stove back boilers

    Hi All,

I purchased my house recently which has a large stove with a back boiler and a pump. The house has a good BER rating (B3) given it was built c.15 years ago. After the stove has been lighting for a while we can hear the back boiler pump kicking in and the hot water and downstairs radiators get hot which is great.

However our house is a 2 story and the upstairs rads don't heat up at all. I note we have these two switches in the utility which we don’t seem to do much. I’ve changed the one on the right when the fire is very warm but it doesn’t seem to do anything upstairs.

Does anyone know if these switches relate to the back boiler and would they be independent of how our oil boiler would heat the house?
