Water softener stopped working

I have a water softener installed for the water that is going into my house. I bought it last June. It is located outside the house but is in a compartment that I made myself for it (made with concrete bricks and plastic sheets). I think it has stopped working because I notice the salt blocks are not dissolving (it uses these ones; https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/shopping?q=tbn:ANd9GcR_heCiClXvODCF6isuoEC2tfVdVXWkkG_pmxGLDBISunevMXXy2g&usqp=CAc). The water is noticeably limey (the kettle has lime on the inside).

I think it stopped working on Monday night which was the first night of the recent cold snap we had. I remember the guy who installed it said it was susceptible to frost and any damage to it from frost would not be covered by the warranty. That is why I made the compartment for it. I covered it with a duvet but I didn't do that until after Monday night. I am worried that the water softener has now been damaged by the frost the first night but that is disappointing if it is because the frost was not even that bad (it wasn't even below zero I'd say).

It has been giving us problems since we installed it anyway; the water from the tap reduced down to a dribble because the filter kept getting blocked. The technician fixed that by increasing the pressure on the water gauge. But now this. It cost a lot of money (€1500) so I am bit worried; will it be expensive to repair or can it be repaired? It is a "Kinetico Supersoft HE water softener".

We had a water softener before for ten years and we had none of these problems. It wasn't protected from frost and it cost a fraction of what this one cost.

I will put in a call for a repair but I'd just like to know has anyone had this issue themselves? Thanks.
