Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Loving the podcast. I've a question for you - you seem to be able to answer very random questions....

    I'm looking into buying one of those big power banks. Something like the Jackery 500 or something. Ideally I would go to a campsite, plug it in when on hookup and then be able to go off grid for a day or two. Would I blow the whole thing, if the campsite was max 10 amps? I'm having trouble figuring out what amp an item is when I go to buy it. Thanks!

    Sorry to but in but for figuring out amps - amps is just watts / voltage. So at 240v 10amps give you 2,400 watts or 2.4kW. most devices will have the wattage displayed on them e.g. an 800w oil filled radiator or a 2kW fan heater - likely can't run both at the same time on a campsite.

    I would doubt it that a battery pack would charge at 2kW or anything like it, the faster you charge batteries the worse it it for them but I don't know anything about that model

    Ps I looked it up, those units seems to charge at 100w max so less than half an amp and takes give hours to charge via mains - no problem at a campsite.


    However, the price is crazy - are you camping in a tent? If you've a vehicle with you (and you don't have to carry stuff) just use lead acid batteries like in a campervan.
