Just looking at a site in Kildare where it says that the purchaser must comply with the councils local needs criteria.

What would generally be an example of local needs? The site is in Kildare. Looking online and it seems quite vague

Varies by council. Kildare are notionally very strict, but based on the number of one-offs I see, I suspect the reality is not that strict.

    Kildare rules:

    • family farm worker for 5+/7+ (depends on area) years already
    • existing rural dweller for 12+ years, or who had lived 12+ years and is returning to care for family
    • someone committing to open a rural business from home

Thought the local needs provision is dodgy grounds now as it was deemed illegal in the European court of justice. Restricting your rights of free movement in th EU or something like that.
