Looking to book a family holiday in Florida later this year. Hope that COVID will be under control by then, but is it possibel to get insurance that would cover cancellations in the vent of COVID (+ve test in family or restrictions in US or here)? I thought I read somewhere that COVID was being excludsed from most travel insurance now.

I will most likely be booking flights and accomodaiton directly (i.e. not a package) so will need something that will cover all of that and all of the family (two 18+ kids)

I have the vhi the vhi year round family travel insurance and was offered an option to upgrade it to cover covid cancellations. It was an extra 70€ish I think. No intention of travelling abroad in 2022 ourselves so did not bother.

Multitrip seem to be covering all covid related cancellations except for government lock-downs or travel restrictions. It also doesn’t apply to any trip booked less than 7 days after the start of the policy.

Blue Insurance has covid cover - excluding lockdowns or travel restrictions.

I've literally just spoken to Blue Insurance about this, 5 minutes ago!

Her words were, if you contract covid abroad and need emergency treatment, you're covered.

If you contract covid/have a positive test before travelling, that prevents you travelling - claims "will be considered".

Sounds a lot like a get-out clause to me, but I have the policy already (was just looking to upgrade it) so not a lot I can do really.

Maybe it's just me but I would assume that anything the insurance company won't put down in writing isn't covered.

I'm inclined to think that as well.

But as I say, I had the policy already (an expensive one, covering "risky" sport), so I'm not taking out another one! I'll just have to make sure I don't get covid before i go 😷🤞
