Has anyone done a Lapland trip this year? Just wondering how it was? Was it any more difficult to navigate the whole thing with Covid?

Considering going next year. Haven't decided between a package deal or DIY. Thinking a package might be easier considering Covid, however DIY would save a lot of money.

We went for 4 days on the 20th of December. We booked it with less than 24 hours to go and booked with TUI. Covid didn’t impact us anymore than normal but more restrictions were coming in after we left.

It was magical and I would book it again tomorrow

    happy to answer any questions

Thanks for your reply. I can't believe you only booked a day before!! Wow.

My main question is regarding Covid I guess. Does the travel agency advise you on everything you need to do and how to do it? If you need antigen vs PCR's and when and how to get them? Although, this type of testing could be obsolete by next December, who knows.

What other clothing did you need to buy for yourselves? I know they provide the snow suits and boots, but what about base layers, fleeces, hats, gloves etc?

Would you recommend TUI? I am looking at another agency that fly directly to Rovaniemi. My kids get travel sick so the less travel the better. We're thinking Dub-Rov direct is the best option, and I believe it's only a short distance from the airport to the hotel. It's another reason we think doing the trip DIY would be too much hassle for us, although it would save a lot of money.

We had to take antigen to get in and TUI then issued you with a “Covid pass band” think all inclusive band. This meant that we didn’t have to show our Covid pass going into bars and restaurants etc

We had way too much stuff with us. They gave us a snow suit and boots at the airport and then came to the hotel for 1 hour in a van the first night and swapped anything needed. Out of the six of us only one person needed to swap boots.

I mainly wore a base layer, leggings/T-shirt/ jumper and snow suit. I did the same for my son. It was -30!!

Our accommodation had a private drying cupboard. I used this for all the gloves and hats to dry them.

We didn’t have time to over think and just bought everything in penny’s.

We all had our own boots and mainly used these over the provided one.

We went to the snow elf with TUI and booked a one bedroom apartment but they gave us a two bedroom. The food in the hotel was really good.

The TUI elves made the trip for us. They are in the bus for the transfer, meet them at the kids disco, gala dinner etc

I have to stay, you've really helped to "sell" it to me :) Thank you. For such a big expense, ya want it to be worth it.
