In the Dublin hospitals how many scans can you expect when going private or semi private? We want more than just the big scan

I went private in the Rotunda in 2019 and was scanned very regularly! I'd have to check my appointment card but it could have been once every 4/5 weeks and then weekly towards the end. These included scans at 8, 12 and 20 weeks.

Private in NMH and got scanned at every visit to consultant. Has the additional "big scans" too separate to this at 12 and 20 weeks. Consultant visits were 3 to 4 weeks apart early on the progressed to 2 weekly and then weekly on 3rd trimester.

I'm private in Rotunda + as others have said you get scan everytime you see your consultant. You can get early apt at 8 weeks which is great reassurance, then obviously your 12 week, 20 week scan and then all others when your back with your consultant usually about monthly until obviously more apts near the end.

Semi private is a bit of a waste of time, go either public or private.

Are dads allowed attend scans in either hospital? That would be a deciding factor because I know some hospitals still won’t

They are only allowed attend 20 week scan, thats it, going to be the same no matter what hospitial you pick.

    From Rotunda website-

'One named, nominated companion may join for labour & birth, on inpatient wards, booking visit, 20-22 week anomaly scan, early pregnancy assessment scans, and the emergency room.'

Obviously, this may change at any time.
