Possible to develop symptoms from Styrenes, carpet adhesive, solvents etc?

Ringing in my ears is my main complaint (tinnitus)

I developed this after moving into a new apartment and initially thought it was due to a water pump for the building.

But upon further investigation it appears styrenes and certain solvent adhesives are known to causes this.

And as it happens there was a new carpet and underlay placed in the bedroom 2 days before I moved in.

The smell of solvent is noticeable but initially I just though, "meh, new carpet smell".

Is it possible that symptoms could develop this quickly however, in a poorly ventilated room?

I noticed it maybe, 4 or 5 days after moving in (the symptom onset, ear ringing).

Very possible, there was a recent court case regarding spray foam insulation causing problems for the householders as not enough time was left between spraying and them moving back in....

It seems unlikely, or else carpet fitters would be suffering very high incidence of tinnitus.

Assume you've sorted the ventilation?

It could be the solvent or high pitch of the water pump.

I personally think it's the pump.

No hearing loss, just high pitch ringing.

No other symptoms, I've been screened for temp etc as per typical covid examinations.

Ventilation is good, but I'm unsure how quickly carpet adhesive odors would take to clear out.

I doubt opening windows would be sufficient.

Are you on any medication. I got tinnitus from antidepressants. There are hundreds of ototoxic medications.

Did they check blood pressure? Mother has high blood pressure and that can cause tinnitus, which as she has dementia she thinks is people talking that aren't there.
