Central heating refill valve.....does this specific type fail?

Hi all,

We have a system link which in the past I have topped up the pressure by turning this valve.

I noticed after the summer the pressure had dropped but when I try turning the grey knob nothing is happening. Normally I'd hear water rushing through and obviously pressure rising.

They seem to be fairly mechanical and it still seems the same "feel" when turning the knob, not like it's loose or anything and I'm turning nothing. As I loosen it you can see the screw retract from the unit so it is moving.

Any suggestions?

The grey knob is the shut off valve so when fully turned anti clockwise is full opened and when screwed clockwise is closed.

Ensure water pressure available upstream of this valve, if so, prise off or unscrew the black cap on top, you should see a screw with a slot in it, screw it down clockwise until you get 1.5 bar pressure and replace the cap. You might then have to open a (filling) valve or two downstream of this, when filling completed to no more than 1.5bar close any filling valves that you may have opened and close (clockwise) the grey knob. You can let the pressure setting (top) slotted screw as is.
