Simple printer that I don't feel like smashing!!!!

Hi,

I have a CAnon MG7550, it breaks my heart. Doesn't connect, connection problem, HAS NO USB STICK PORT!!!, when trying to print a PDF via memory stick get an error, print a photo and orientation is incorrect.

Got it working today but after about an hour. Don't know will it work next time.

Any recommended printer that.....just sets up and works.....EASILY? Or is this the impossible dream?

Will need to be a bit more detailed OP, what exactly are you requiring the printer for?

the one you have is a photo printer, is that necessary or?

i take it from your post a USB input is essential?

also do you care about being able to connect and print from your phone or tablet? (And wirelessly from a laptop or PC with WiFi)

I have that exact same printer, and for what is suppose to be a good printer it's so crap, even a basic black and white form is low grade, I only print text in black text, yet it eats all the colour ink over and over and over. Then if you replace ink you get errors '' wrong printer head is installed'' .

Hi,

The advantage of a usb input is so that if im having issues printing i can simply copy to usb stick , insert into laptop & print.

If printer works consistently, then the usb input isn't needed.

Wireless printing from tablet/phone is handy-if I am emailed a Word doc etc & can simply print it'd be v efficient.

I have 2 requests-

1. for printing docs (pdf, Word etc.)but no need for photo printing. Based on my negative experience, id almost not bother with home photo printing.

2. Printing docs & photos IF it's stable & easy to use, reliable consistently.

According specs, Canon MG7550 has Ethernet connection - use it.

Or at least set it on static IP

Good and vital question. Ideally under €200 but would spend €300 the difference in price gets me something that I want to hug as it's soo easy to use consistently.

its an eco printer and the initial ink lasted over 3 years , connects to everything inc phones tablets with no problems , set up one for my neighbour who is a teacher and constantly printing and is useless tech wise , and he's had no problems since I installed it over a year ago , once its setup it just works .harvey have the more expensive one for around 300 which has more bells and whistles , review here

Tried this today and it.....DOESN'T WORK!!!!!

Document- print. No sign of my Canon so went to 'add a printer' and laptop found the printer. connect and 'That didn't work. Try adding your Canon MG7500 series again or check with the manufacturer for additional setup instructions'.

I hate this printer.

On printer, set static IP some like 192.168.1.250(IPv4, should be in the range of your net and not used by any other device. ) and disable IPv6. Even better , also go to router webpage and set reservation on DHCP by printers MAC address.

On computer -> Add printer, but dont let search, instead select

PS: printer is crap'ish , but, if not completelly wrecked, should work with correct setup.

@dinneenp sorry - got busy again!

I have a similar model to this & it’s super easy to work with and prints great. I print from my phone and laptop with it wirelessly with WiFi no hassle.

One thing I don’t know if I’d bother with instant ink cos it’s kind of annoying as much as it seems useful. That’s just my opinion though, the printer is the main thing and I’ve never had an issue.

We have an Epson Ecotank as well. Bought it last year and love it. We (four adults) use it for a combination of some work and some leisure printing. Some days you might have a few pages to print, or you might to a week without printing anything. Its simple to use and scans, prints and copies.

The cheapy cheapy HP printers are the best in my overall experience, but only to print out back-up copies of Boarding passes, certs etc. Any occasional serious printing these times I get done professionally.

Ecotank here as well.

Over 11k pages according to the printer counter. Only ordered the first bottle of (black) ink that didn't come with it there last week. It isn't even empty. And the ink bottles are cheap anyway.

I think it came with a 3-year warranty (subject to a limit of 30k pages printed)
