Gaming Monitor for PS5

Hi Guys,

Can anyone advise me of a good monitor for the PS5 budget is about €300 to €400 and where to buy?

In a bit of a panic as I was getting my young lad a TV for Christmas for his PS5 but he informs me today, no not a TV a gaming monitor he wants they are better. I haven't a clue! and am now panicking a bit..

A gaming monitor is almost certainly not automatically ‘better’ for a PS5 than a good TV. Consoles are designed for TVs.

The best monitors for a PS5 would be ones that support 4K resolution and refresh rates above 120hz plus HDMI 2.1 input. A 4K 60 monitor would be more affordable and give a pretty good experience. A 1080p monitor with a high refresh rate would be a decent middle ground, but IMO you’d want to go 4K to future proof your purchase. Any monitor with 1440p resolution would be wasted as PS5 doesn’t display at that resolution currently.

A decent, modern 4K TV is the best way to play a PS5, although the lower you go down the price range the more likely you are to be hit with compromises. Same with monitors though.

What would you recommend mate? I was looking at a 43nano75 TV.. but he said monitors r better. To be honest I haven't a clue. He said the graphics and lag be better on a monitor hes 12 ..lol..

The graphics wont be any better (just smoother on a high refresh screen) there may be a small bit more input lag on a TV than a gaming monitor but most Tv's have a gaming mode to minimize this (also for casual gaming this is negligible)

You could get a 1080p 120hz monitor but but that would be way worse than a 4k tv ~300-400 euro (this has low pixel density so while it will have no lag it will look like crap)

for the budged you are way better off sticking to a TV you should be able to get a 4k 60hz tv for around 300-500.

Most of which have an input lag of ~10ms whereas a monitor has an input lag of ~1-2ms

you can see a list of Tv's here with their input lag generally its fairly low unless you have not set it to gaming mode which increases the lag to 50-110ms

This would be a good option if you could get one in time (it says delivery in 10-20 days :/ ) but possibly other shops will price match it?

Cheers mate. 50" be to big though. Did you have a look at the 43Nano75 LD TV. I was told this is a good TV for gaming.

Hey OP! Having dealt with this sort of thing before, and if you're panicking about getting a monitor, I'd go with hitting the kid with plenty of jargon so he thinks you've done your research and you're getting him the best deal.

As above, most TVs have a game mode these days and these drastically reduce input lag, if you look at the post from keyboard cat, I'd be totally comfortable telling the kid that you've done your research and based on his concerns about "graphics" and "lag"

That and the fact it's an LG TV who are just hitting it out of the park these days with their TVs and onboard software.

Spoken as someone who has two monitors, both 4k, one ultrawide and still think my TV is the best for gaming.

P.S. that's a great TV for that price, I've an LG as well, best TV i've ever had, its not quite the same family as the one you have linked but you've got good specs there
