Upgrade LNB advice

Since storm Barra, a few of my Freesat channels disappeared such as BBC4 (SD & HD), Euronews, Channel 5 HD. Most channels are still fine with signal strength in the 70’s but some transponders have 0 signal strength while others are in the 40’s or lower.

Maybe the dish has shifted alignment?

Some of the channels returned with weak signal strength over the last few days so maybe there is rain damage to the LNB?

As the LNB is old I’d like to replace it anyway when the dish is being aligned.

Any suggestions on which future-proof LNB to go for?

The next TV will be 4k so the LNB needs to feed it the right signal. The LNB is for a two room Freesat setup. The receivers are old Gigablue QuadPlus in each room - with 2 DVB S2 and a DVB T2 Saorview tuner for the Irish channels.

This is one of the contenders Thanks

Future proof LNB here, 4 legacy outputs and 2 wideband outputs. Don't worry about 4k, the LNB is blind to the content or resolution carried.

Future proof? We don't know the future.

LNBs are pretty robust and unless the front cap is broken I doubt there is water damage. Get the dish realigned and tightened up properly and all should be well.

I think you're right, it might be the LNB cap - or maybe the cable as today all the channels are back and signal reception is up across the board.

Not 6 months ago that LNB cap was replaced by an installer putting up another dish. He noticed it was broken and asked if there were reception issues during wet weather - there were but not too often. Everything was good again until Barra.

Do birds peck at LNB caps or what else might be breaking it so soon?

LNB feedhorn caps should last longer than 6 months unless it was replaced with a secondhand unit.

Caps deteriorate over time due to the sun's UV rays focused on the cap over time.

Loose connections to the LNB is another possibility or water ingress into the connectors.
