A friend has just got a Black Friday offer from Sky of: TV, broadband, landline, and Sky Sports, for €60 p/m.

Yes, we’re often accused of not changing provider often enough. I’ve just done this with electricity and gas.

But, I’m being screwed by Virgin, right?

At the moment, we don’t have a tv provider. We have a Sky box left over from our last contract. This gives us BBC and C4 and a few other channels. With Netflix for €11.99 p/m, we’re pretty much covered.

But, almost seventy quid a month just for BB?

    Bonkers? (to coin a word)

    Yep that's very expensive .

You should be able to get them down to 60 on the phone; but if you can get actual fibre (not VDSL "efibre") from anyone else, anyone at all - go. You'll get 45/50 quid deals.

    Thanks for the replies.

You’ve lost me a bit with the tech talk. I’m Dublin 14, if that helps in working out what alternatives I can get.

    Thanks again.

    https://onebigswitch.ie/campaigns/obsie-2110-broadband-sky/plans/results Offer ends on 17-Dec-2021.

Sky €30 pm , you could use it to bargain down Virgin.

    Less than half the price!

    Will phone them tomorrow.

    Thanks.

Just check what they can offer at your address. Plenty of places can only get ~70mbit on eir wires (from various operators) and if you've got multiple people using the connection and you're used to Virgin at 250/360/higher, that 70 will be torture.

No gaming. But, 2/3 computers, wifi radio, Google Dongle and iPad. So, quite a bit.

    We shall see.

    I contacted Virgin this morning.

I never knew that my BB and phone package included the Virgin TV Sports pack. And I've been with them for years. It means I can stream sports such as Champions League through my TV.

I got a new price of €50 p/m including phone.

    Happy with that.
