As an early 20s woman, I tend to swipe left unless they're a close male friend and we can laugh about it, or if I'm into them.

I've somehow matched with a lad I fancy in my course and now I'm like "aw ****, is he joking or do I have a chance?". Hasn't messaged me yet though and I'm way too chicken to do so.

Maybe but maybe not, I think of myself when in my early 20s and if I was him I probably wouldnt message you, even if I was interested. Its just the way I was so dont just presume it was an accident on his part, he may be interested just not wanting to make a move. Maybe he's a bit awkward or shy or afraid of rejection and the awkwardness after. Id say if you are in any way interested at least try talk to him more and put out the feelers and see what happens.

Messaged him in a jokey "you look familiar..." way and he joked back but other than that nothing. At least I can pass it off as a joke/ banter and not desperation?

Might try chatting to him a little next semester, even in just a pure friendly way and see what happens.

I only do it to lads I know for sure see me platonically. Not a "friend" who has made a pass at me before etc.

Maybe I should stop doing it. If everyone used Tinder honestly, I wouldn't be in the position of "crap did he only swipe right because he knows me or because he would 😉?".

Exactly how many friends of yours are on Tinder? Maybe it's a generational thing but it sounds odd that you're seeing so many familiar faces. I'm on it myself and came across a work colleague once. Had planned on mildly slagging her about it one day and then Covid hit and we all had to start working from home so haven't seen her since last year.

I was at a singles night once and another work colleague was there. We spotted each other and just smiled. She got bet into some fella shortly afterwards.

I live in Dublin. I love it on Tinder when I get likes from some woman living in the arsehole of Mayo or some other far flung place. OK I know Ireland's a small country but I don't do long distance relationships of any kind, thanks.
