Heating options for old bungalow

The house we recently bought has oil central heating but the tank and boiler need to be replaced as the house was vacant for many years. It's a rural 1960s bungalow, around 810 sq ft/ 76 sq m. I was originally thinking of changing to tank LPG, mainly because of oil thefts being fairly common in the area and also I'm a creature of habit who likes to cook with gas. From looking at the cost comparison calculators online it seems this might be an expensive mistake? It would be great to hear from anyone who has done it in the last couple years or has any advice in general around changing the heating system.

What's wrong with the tank and the oil boiler? Is the rest of the heating system (rads, pipes etc) in good condition?

If you are going to be living there full time, lpg will be expensive. You can always buy gas cylinders for cooking.

If you can afford it, insulation upgrade and heat pump would be best, but will probably cost at the wrong side of €50.000. Grants will go some of the way, but will still be costly.

There's a crack along the side of the oil tank so it needs to be replaced and the guy who came to service boiler recommended it be replaced due to its age and inefficiency. The rest of the system seems to be working ok so far but we haven't used it a tremendous amount yet. I'd love a heat pump but the budget won't stretch anywhere close to it - even with the SEAI kickbacks.

"A" rated high efficiency oil boiler 👍 which they all are now, preferably one suitable for HVO (the bio fuel of the not so far away future) a simple replacement for kerosene, which seems unknown to the green party here 👎

I finally have the make/model - it's a Firebird Popular 90 that's been there for 15+ years judging by the service sticker on it. It is still functional but has seen better days for sure.
