I've found Amazon have it down to a T. They apply Irish vat and an estimate of your import duties at checkout (import deposit fee) which means your stuff generally sails through delivery and a few days later, they'll refund any difference between what they charged for the import deposit fee and I guess what Irish revenue charged Amazon.

They're leaving other UK and even Irish online retailers in the dark ages

Thanks dollylama - that sounds promising... still hoping to find them somewhere here but not looking likely ... is it worth signing up to the month free trial with Prime, or does it make any difference?

Others here would be better placed to advise on Prime but I think the biggest benefit of it was free priority delivery but I think that's largely void in Ireland as An Post or the couriers will still generally take 48 hours to get it outside of Dublin
