Whatever happened to?

Not the famous people who disappeared but the ordinary people who had their 10 seconds of fame and disappeared just as quickly.

I was thinking about ‘The man that fell on the ice’ in 2010, the other night fortunately he wasn’t injured but wondered if this affected his life in any way. Is he still ribbed about it at work or at parties? Is it brought up at job interviews?Does he have a laugh and joke about it now, or still prefer not to think about it. The thing about the video is that it’s not a Tiktokker/tweeter/Facebook looking for likes or an attention seeker like Erica Roe (younger people might have to google her).

One of the comments said the man who slipped on the ice deserved it because he looked obnoxious. I believe a plaque was put up to commerate the event.

there’s quite a few more I can think especially those under the influence who rose and disappeared without trace

The Man Who Slipped On Ice gained celebrity status, and took his ice-slipping show on tour, slipping on ice in 40 countries worldwide, with dignities like Queen Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela and Elvis Presley in attendance. As time went on, audiences tired of the show, and turned their attention to The Cat That Jumped, The Man Who Ate A Very Hot Chili and the Woman With The Dress. The Man Who Slipped On Ice legally changed his name to just The Man Who Slipped, and began adding other surfaces into his show, including wet lino, leaves and the steps of a bus. However, his moment had passed, and he faded into obscurity. A bad fall when attempting a world record banana slip in the Ohio State Fair in 2016 left him unable to lose his balance on low friction surfaces, and he now performs a spoken word performance on the street (while standing on a non-slip mat) in Times Square called The Man Who Slipped On Ice: Slip Of The Tongue, where he mispronounces words, utters spoonerisms and accidently says his mother's name during sex.

I remember in the early days of youtube getting sucked into the sub-community of school shootings. It was a weird world of angry teenagers and emo girls obsessed with the Colombine shooters. The Amazing Atheist, a strange individual who I think became quite a successful Youtuber in the years after used to call out certain individuals who showed support for these killers, one of whom ended up shooting up his school in Finland in 2007. I often wonder what became of those people I used to interact with?

While serving his sentence he called a prison officer an "uneducated turnkey". The officer was reported by the Irish Independent at the time to have responded: "I would rather be an uneducated turnkey than an educated paedophile"
