Classic Insurance

Hi Folks,

Trying to organize insurance for my dad on an 1986 Mini, but not getting anywhere,

He is only a named driver on mothers car as he works during the week, all the insurance companies are insisting he would need a policy in his own name on a main car before they could quote him on a classic,

Just checking if anyone had any experience of this?

I don't know of any classic policies which you can get without a full policy on another car. You could always switch him to the main driver on your mams car.

Most places won't allow a named driver on a classic policy unless they have a full policy as well, although Chubb allows anyone who doe NOT live in your household to drive it. So if you encourage them to divorce that might work.

I have two named drivers on the classic policy with AXA. No extra cost.
