I had a sky card that worked a treat for years, but too many withdrawals by the missus (hiding it on the kids!) and now we have no SKY!

So, I'm looking to replace my system with a box that will give me Saorview and the Free to air satellite channels, and also let me install apps such as netflix etc., if I ever want to go down that route.

Looks like this is a good option. https://www.smarttvbox.ie/online-store/boxes/minix-u9-h-smart-tv-box.html

If it solves all my problems, I guess I should go for it?

(My TV is NOT a smart TV, but is 3D, so I don't want to change it...) Also, USB slot is not working on it...

Oops. Just realised that the link I posted was NOT for a combo box...

Looks like this is what I'm looking for...

    Anyone got one of these?

Not sure what the problem with your sky box is. You shouldn’t need a card to use it as a free to air. You could consider getting a now tv stick which are around most of the time for around €20. This will connect into a HDMI slot on your tv and will allow access to the players from RTE, VIRGIN MEDIA as well as ALL4 from Channel 4. You can also use it for Netflix with a subscription. A few other things are also accessible such as tune in radio and sky news
