How highly do people rate them? Always thought they were one of the best bands of their generation, if not the best, and probably the best since the late 80s.

Very few bands could throw their hand to any genre and excel, but Blur did it whether it was knees up music, baggy, electronic, gospel, American lo-fi, they excelled at the lot.

I think they got stigmatized in Ireland to a degree, playing up to British middle class elements for a while, but got embarrassed and soon moved away from that.

Id argue they've very few peers in their range and diversity, and sadly I think they are underrated to a degree, particularly in Ireland

They had some really goood songs... but Damon Albarn was a difficult guy to like, both as a singer and as a ‘personality’....

i really can’t warm to his vocal style..

For someone who became familiar with them due to the Parklife album I see that as their high point.

It doesn't have a bad track on it.

After that everything is patchy, "Country House', "Song 2" and especially "Tender" are great songs, but they are islands in a sea of mediocrity.

And even going back before Parklife, "There's no one way" is a great track, but again on it's own.

    Jaunty chappie/

    Now he wears a nappy/

    His music's alright/

But his vibe was kinda crappy/

    Awwwwwwwll in a televisual dreeeeeam.

No idea where that popped out of. :D Had some catchy tunes. Something childish about their musicality, but it worked to great effect every now and then.

Great band. Bought everything up to Think Tank and that Blur 21 box set.

Modern Life Is Rubbish, Parklife and 13 are their best IMHO

Followed by The Great Escape, Leisure & Think Tank

    Worst is Blur

Saw them live on the Leisure tour at McGonagles.

A much better albums band than rivals Oasis but the latter had far superior B-Sides.

Leisure is extremely underrated, even by the band themselves!!
