I've been tipping away grand for the last year with an acoustic guitar and now wish to digress/ progress to an electric.

My main interests to date would be Dylan and his early stuff, George Harrison, BB and Ronnie Woods.

I've been looking at strats and teles on various sites and I really don't know which would be more beneficial to me before I hit ' buy'.

Can anyone please advise which route I should take before I spend €500 or €600 on equipment.

    Thanks.

The artists you list are mostly associated with teles, so that is a vote for those. Teles sound a bit brighter, and have more twang. Strats tend to be a bit warmer, and imo more versatile. They both feel a bit different to play, so if you have the option, pop into a shop and try them both.

There's also the option of going for something a little less expensive like a Squire or Harley Benton, and buy one of each, try them both for a year or two, then upgrade the one you prefer.

    its all personal taste.

I've always preferred strats. as much the bevelled top edge as anything else!

Always loved teles. But never loved the twang. Strat is the great allrounder.

    Buy one of both :)
