Ok to turn down Tús if I'm already engaged with Local Employment Service (LES)?.....

After finishing 12months of JobPath with Seetec a few months ago, I received first letter from the LES and have been having monthly phonecall follow-ups from them since. Not sure yet how fruitful it might be longterm, but already finding it much better than dealing with Seetec.

I've just received a letter now from Tús as well inviting me to participate in the Community Enterprise scheme. No real info about what type of positions might be offered, but I'm meant to reply either agreeing to my details being shared, or explaining why I don't want to accept. And if I reject, this will then be sent on to social welfare for review.

So, in the eyes of social welfare... if I'm currently engaging with LES, would that be reasonable grounds for declining the invitation from Tús for CE scheme?

Your engagement with a LES scheme means very little I'm afraid, if your not currently in a position. There's no reason for you not to also be engaging with TUS and failure to do so will I'm afraid have consequences.

I certainly would not decline the invitation for the reasons you've given.

Thanks for your helpful reply on this.

My other concern is the general issue of Covid because I'm living with elderly parents. I'm very careful in terms of minimising contacts and barely socialising, so just a bit worried I might get placement somewhere that I'd have little control over who I'm coming into close contact with.

Maybe I should just ask on a more general thread now instead of here given thread title.

Thanks again for getting back to me

No problem, I fully appreciate your concerns re Covid but the sad reality is SW have set rules and requirements for Jobseeker's and engagement is one of them. I believe most are absurd, especially the Scandalous Jobspath nonsense, I see you had the pleasure of a pointless 12 months with Seetac.

Engagement does not mean a placement and you can deal with this, if it even arriises, I just caution against not engaging , it just opens the door for more difficulties.

Local employment service's , not quite the same as the appalling jobspath scheme, more focused on local employment, Jobs club kind of thing .

Honestly, they seem more about employing people to try and get employment locally , about as useful as fork in a sugar bowl so to speak 😁 I believe DEASP moving away from these scheme's with funding being cut .

Okay, I've just asked same Q more generally on the main Tús thread to see what people think.

Thanks again for your helpful input here. Much appreciated
