Combi boiler but no instant hot water

    Hello,

Our boiler broke so we had to get it replaced pretty urgently (no heating/no hot water). We went with the cheapest quotes (which I now regret) and the lads seem to have installed combi boiler instead of system boiler. Now I didn't know about what different type of boilers are and etc. I realize that now I should've done the research before.

Now from what we understand after researching, our house is semi-detached 3 bedroom so the existing system previously was one suitable for system boiler. The problem is that the lads installed the combi boiler but didn't do the pipework to enable instant hot water to flow through the bathroom. When I rang them after the work was done, they said it'd take about 30 minutes for water to be hot. So we're not getting instant hot water which isn't the end of the world but the hot water even after 1 hour + of boiler being on doesn't seem to be very hot.

Is there anything I can do here to higher up the water temperature?

Also, could any plumbing expert kindly explain how a combi boiler is working with the old system? From my understanding, the combi water heats the water and supplies it directly to taps while system boilers pumps hot water into the tank.

I'd really appreciate some input on this.

    Thanks!

Do you have an electric immersion.on the hot water tank to heat the water?

Is the heating on for an hour or more a day? In those situations it would be typical to always have fairly hot water in tank.

Are you sure your boiler is a combo and not just a condensing boiler? Make and model would help and photo of boiler and hot tank in hot press

Sounds like a condensing boiler to me with a cylinder, if the original cylinder then assuming boiler OK it can only be that the boiler (flow) temperature is set too low to facilitate extra condensing, this can easily be checked out by looking at the boiler thermostat setting.

A combi boiler will give (instant) hot water, depending on the length of pipework to the user end, in 5/30 secs.
