Anyone switch fibre to Sky, and have constant issues? e.g. no internet. reseting router etc doesnt work. It seems to come back eventually.

Ivve had Vodafone fibre and Vigin Media before this, and never experienced such a bad service.

Very poor customer service - but I guess that's not unique to them. Very hard to get talk to someone, lots of circular "DIY" menus.

Is it fibre to home or VDSL ?

Yes. I had Sky in for a bit over a year back in 2020 and the fibre was constantly going down, sometimes 4-5 times a day. Numerous router replacements and a load of other nonsense.

Swapped to Vodafone earlier this year and haven't had any real issues.

it will have to be due to their hardware as its the same line.

I have used Eir, Sky and digiweb and never had an issue but i bypassed their router and used my own (ont to my router) its all unifi gear but any router that allows vlan tagging would work.

I had Sky Fibre for all of a week and had nothing but trouble. Even when I replaced their router with my own it was no better.

Strangely changed to Vodafone using the same fibre line and have had a year of perfect broadband.

You couldnt be more wrong, Line only the same from ONT to local exchange ( ie last mile ).

Different providers could use different backhauls from exchange and UP.

Sky - BT Ireland , Vodafone their own , good few using OpenEir infrastructure from top to the bottom.

If you live in Rural area then there is probably only EIR backhaul all the way for every ISP , as others backhauls just not available.

If you live in the City then you should definitely stay clear from Sky.

    Ok

My 1gb line hasn't differed between any of the 3 or 4 providers I have used albeit I have always used my own router.
