    Hi Folks,

I've looked through older posts for this and the quote I received recently seems abnormally high to me, I just want to make sure there is nothing I'm missing as I've never dealt with this before. Any feedback appreciated.

Supply and fit new boiler (24kw Ideal logic Max), remove the old boiler. New flu etc.

Flush system and fit magnetic filter

    TRVs on 10 rads

Replace the valves in the hot-press and replace existing thermostats for each zone (3 - Lower/Upper heat and water), add a 3 zone timer for the boiler with app control.

Replace the automatic air vent in hot-press

    • €6300 incl. VAT

I had mine old boiler replaced around this time of the year last year and it cost 5k (after SEAI grant) including:

Supply and fit new system boiler (18kw Ideal logic Max)

    8 TRVs

New 3 zone system (we didn't have it before)

    2 e-Nest Thermostats

    Attic insulation done with 300mm

Hi all..... any Grants on same or financial help from the Govt???

Dont know where I can find €6000 to replace a boiler?

Are we talking about replacing a Firebird oil boiler here???

If replacing oil, should be less than 3k

Are you getting Smart trvs? They can add about 2k - 2.5k on to a quote these days for tados for about 12 of them.

I've been checking quotes recently and the best (and plumber I have most confidence in) is about 6k including VAT before grants are awarded. That includes a new Viessman 24 boiler, moving the boiler from the kitchen to the converted attic and 9 Hive smart trvs and main switch. Also obviously includes all external pipe work and changing the set up to two zones for water and heating. The Hive Trvs will hopefully handle zoning for the heating. That's pretty much as good as I could find.

Thanks for the responses folks, much appreciated. That was a quote for standard TRVs and the one for Smart was 1.5k higher. My main concern here was the quote received was almost 4K more than the advertised average price on their website for just the replacement (and similar from other providers), while I know each job can bring it's own extras there were no major equipment moves or other changes to zoning etc. and it did not look like 4K of extras to me even including the TRVs. I got a second quote in yesterday for 3K total (normal/non-smart TRVs) from another very well reviewed provider and have decided to go with them instead.
