Where can I get a reasonably priced gas boiler??

    Hi folks...

Just wondering where I should go to get decent prices on gas boilers? Particularly interested in any online retailers who give prices so I can compare...

I'm looking for a small boiler (around 15kw), preferably gas only but also consider a combi if it works out cheaper.

Not in the trade so would be buying as a retail customer.

As is so often the case, I've been seeing plenty of UK sellers with prices... compared to the few Irish retailers who actually give prices, they seem to be about half the price over there, so am hoping there must be some better prices available here and I just haven't found them yet!

    Would welcome any suggestions, cheers!

Most trade counters won't sell gas boilers to non RGI plumbers as its illegal for anyone else to install or replace them.

you buy the boiler yourself who do you go back to if you have a problem the installer or the supplier

imho not worth the hassle supply and fit by reputable rgi is the best way to go

I know my brother bought one maybe 9 mths ago in Heat Merchants, I think it was around 800/900, can't really remember what he said now but he wouldn't be one not to check prices! He's not a plumber or in the building business, he fitted it in the vacant space from broken one as such and the gas registered guy hooked it up.

Fair comments both, but there are places that will sell boilers to retail customers... just at what appear to be inflated prices (in comparison to the exact same thing in UK). Of course it would have to be installed by a professional, but that doesn't mean said professional won't try to make a bit on the boiler itself in much the same way as years ago I was quoted €1500 for a well pump that I was able to buy myself for €600.

I suppose comparing with UK at this stage is only annoying oneself :) as by the time you get it over it has cost a fortune with Brexit etc. Although could you get one in Northern Ireland or delivered there and collect it yourself? Heavy yokes though. I had to get an item earlier in the year from UK, not available anywhere here and supplier wouldn't even send it here but would send to NI so between the jigs and the reels and couriers I eventually got it, added a lot to the bottom line though!

Trouble is then though if there are any problems with it, non EU and all that!

they may have a trade discount from their suppliers so any few bob they make you wont get anyway

peace of mind i would go supply and fit

but that doesnt mean you cant get maybe 3 quotes

We have 15 radiators in our house plus hot press hot water cylinder. We are looking to install a standard gas boiler in our kitchen and remove our existing Stanley Cooker/Boiler system.

What boiler would be recommended. We are looking for one that will be easy to service and get parts for going forward.

Will the existing pipework that was used for our Stanley be OK or will we have to get new pipework?

Our Stanley cooker doubled as a radiator for our kitchen when on. I assume we will have to now get an extra radiator in place to heat the kitchen?
