Portable Boiler thermostat

I'm in the dark ages with my thermostat at the moment. It's a no frills, non digital, screwed to a wall thermostat.

Is there a decent wireless portable one I can move around the house? Basically I want to hang it in my wife's office during the day, the sitting room during the evening and the baby's room over night. I will manually turn on/off the radiators throughout the day as we move around. We tend to use just one or two rooms at any given time.

Since it's something we'll have for a long time I don't mind spending a bit of money on it if it means better quality.

    Thanks in advance.

I got a hive to replace my old timer.

just replaced the clock on the wall with one part of it and the controller then is portable.

can boost it , time it and whatever else you need.

can also get an app where you can control it from your phone.

A cheap wireless thermostat that I'm using for years

    Salus RT510RF - around 40-50 Euro

    Or a later version RT520RF around 60-80€

I got a "Secure SCS317 7-day Programable Thermostat" for my father a few years ago.

It's worked flawlessly and he can bring it with him from the kitchen to the sitting room or even to bed if he wants to.

You can set different programmes of temperature changes throughout each day of the week and you can turn up or down the temperature at the unit.

Thanks very much for the replies. I think getting one of your suggestions will make a big difference to how we heat our house. Do any of them flash brightly in the dark when taking a temperature reading? I bought a digital thermostat device before, for the baby's room, with the idea of having an electric heater plugged into it. But it didn't work out because every 3 seconds an incredibly bright light blinked, presumably as part of the temperature reading process.

I don't mind a slight glow or back-lit screen but just want to avoid a lighthouse type flash going off every few seconds.

    Sorry I missed this comment.

    Our one doesn't .

It has a backlit screen, but only when you're interacting with it.

Who is your supplier, you can probably get one on discount.

Energia provide the Netmat and the other suppliers provide reduced cost alternatives. Details below

    https://www.bonkers.ie/blog/gas-electricity/climote-vs-hive-vs-nest-vs-netatmo-how-do-they-compare/

Its from a grant from the EU, so you can only do this on your home once.

The Hive thermostat also has a backlit screen, but again, only when you are interacting with it. There is also a decent stand available for it so you can place it on any flat surface.

We just switched to Bord Gais a few months ago but availed of a discount option instead of this Hive thermostat. I might ring them and see if there's a discount on one though. Thanks for that.
