The annual "we're creating zillions of jobs" BS press release is out from dominos which the media are lapping up as always

Since 2014 they have made annual or twice annual "we're creating Jobs" press releases that the media splash headlines about.

A quick google on their press releases shows job announcements in excess of 7,000 since 2015 and over 2,000 in the last 2 years. - But in Nov 2019 they said they had 2,200 people, so an extra 2,000 jobs announcements since then means they'd be at 4,200 now (or over 7,000 if all pr was counted), yet they are at 2300 now.

Do journalists not even do a cursory back check on this type of crap. Or tell people that the jobs are poorly paid, unsocial hours and part-time - sort fo would take the gloss of the piece of turd they send out every year

Media outlets don't have the resources to fact check anymore, and find it very useful to just paraphrase press releases to fill space.

If you calculate the weight of the 4,800 employee discrepancy since 2015, you get the exact amount of “pepperoni” they used as a topping in that time. Coincidence? I think not.

Maybe they meant the CEO eats noting but his own pizza and is 400Kgs in weight.

So today's journalists can't be arsed to do two minutes checking before publishing?

That's why newspapers are utterly sh1te these days because journalists are third rate.

I, as a totally casual observer, can notice these constant mega job announcements by dominos, yet a journalist doesn't.?

Maybe they have recruited that number of people in that time period but just didn't mention the slightly lower number of people who left them because of the pay or conditions...

Probably counting the journalists they recruited too

Well if you count the people making the pizza, plus the self employed delivery drivers who are on a couple of euro a run, all minimum wage . Ìt may be the biggest employer
