Interior Door handles and locking - replace?

Couple interior door handles are loud when opened, like the springs inside make a lot of noise. Tried some spray lubricant that made a little difference but not really good enough.

Bought a replacement handle/plate (it's a bog standard lever handle). But something is up cause now when opening the door, the handle lever moves about a 1/3 of the way in it's rotation before it engages the release mechanism.

Doors are locking with a 65mm lock yoke that's inset into the edge of the door. So guess, do I also replace that too?

Was thinking maybe i just bought a cheap replacement handle/plate and i need to get something better? I found some ones online that i really like the look of, but they don't have a keyhole. That's not necessarily a deal breaker.

But if i wanted to replace the locking component that's inside the door edge: there are ones that just have the release mechanism and no locking component, they are small things. But can you put that on a door that's been already ground out to take a 65mm lock?

Might not be the spring in the handles that's causing the noise. There are springs in the mortice lock as well and they may need to be lubricated. Take the mortice lock out of the door and there should be a few screws that you can remove in order to get a side panel off the lock which will allow access to the screws.
